Note:
The Blue Note Explosion (2 disc set) is a compilation series from the team that brought you the Blue Series, the biggest selling jazz series ever. Main compiler Dean Rudland has compiled many successful compilation series in addition to his work at Blue Note, including BGPs Super Breaks and Super Funk compilations and EMI / Stateside’s Minnie Riperton ‘Les Fleurs’ and David Axelrod ‘Anthology’. The compilations will all cover distinct historical and stylistic phases of the label’s history, gathering together tracks that are rarely anthologised alongside some of the more well known cuts. Each one will then be housed in a distinctive sleeve that looks like a Blue Note compilation that was done at the specific period covered by the release, but then left on a shelf and forgotten about until now. It creates a unique and wonderfully Blue Note feel to the whole series.

12 A Lover Is Blue

Review:
This is an excellent recording that pieces together three separate sessions. The first, with Art Farmer and Lou Donaldson marked Ammons’ return to jazz after exploring R&B for a period of time. The second and third sessions find “Jug” teaming up with his musical soulmate Sonny Stitt for two separate dates. Their interplay over the years produced some of jazz’s most stimulating moments and they don’t disappoint here. The songs are short, but the addition of numerous outtakes make for a long, satisfying listen. Essential.

Weel done Smooth! This is the right thing to do: keep it up!

NO ALLA CENSURA!

06/02/2010 – 12:39 am

Vergogna!

Parola di un professore di mezz’età.
No alla censura!

(Sad) Info: My Jazz World – what’s up?

05/02/2010 – 7:38 pm

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!

As reported by Smooth:

”Today, “My Jazz World” has been shut down by Blogger.com due to so called “repeated violations of term”.

We’d like to inform you that we’ve received another complaint regarding your blog (http://myjazzworld.blogspot.com/). Upon review of your account, we’ve noted that your blog has repeatedly violated Blogger’s Terms of Service (http://www.blogger.com/terms.g). Given that we’ve provided you with several warnings of these violations and advised you of our policy towards repeat infringers, we’ve been forced to remove your blog. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, The Blogger Team.

I haven’t been informed or asked for my point of view prior to this act, so in good old American fashion “shoot first, ask questions later” Blooger.com has pulled the plug. A few complaints were enough to put me out of business and destroy the work of two years.

At the moment, I cannot tell if, when, how and where “My Jazz World” will resurface. Should I decide to continue, you will hear about it in the blogosphere. If you want to contact me, you may do so at myjazzworld@gmail.com.”

See:

We think that is a shame!

MFS is giving all the support & effort to My Jazz World blog. We hope it will continues alive!
